To my wallet : i now understand you.

Image
Dear wallet, I used to randomly open you like a vending machine, hoping you'd surprise me. But now, I see that you were only holding what I put in. I can remember blaming you several times for being broke. how funny that was. Now I understand your silence all this while, I get it. I have learned a lot from finance, so I have decided to share it with you for free. Even though i learned them the hard way. 1. Stop Spending based on Feelings. Feelings are temporarily based. they come based on mode, environment, and influence. imagine walking to a shopping mall to get just three(3) items only to come out buying seven (7). exceeding your budget for a purchase. Now know this, it's not that what you bought extra was bad or not needed, but it wasn't budgeted. that hurts the wallet. Learn to stick to the plan. it shows maturity. don't spend based on how you feel. but how you planned it to be. 2. A budget will save you . This is where all the calculation takes place. It's al...

Dear future me, I hope you're not Tired..

Image
I have waited for long, grinding in silence, hoping to trust my courage in sending you this letter, my future self. But I guess my courage failed me. my words also turned their back against me due to the prolonged silence built by fear of not disappointing your hopes, trust, and decision to choose me among other juicy options of very courageous individuals out there. I guess all my support system indeed failed me.   I still remember the smile on your face during my birth. I could grab the hope you had in me, it felt so good that I could not wait to unleash what I felt inside of me, what you saw that I couldn't see clearly. your trust gave me more clarity on my purpose here on earth. it built a strength that cannot be hacked. You watched me grow. It felt like heaven on earth. I could smell the reality of meeting you, even though your invisible self felt more like it. I never stopped wishing. cuz that was what gave me hope.   until I grew and started hearing; ''If ...

Personal Finance lessons i wish i learned in school

It's not every money that comes into your hands that is meant for spending. Some are meant to be used to get more funds, others are to be used to service and maintain the existing funds, while some are there to represent you outside.       During my growing-up days, once I was given money, the first thing that came to mind was, What do I want to buy? I unconsciously built a presence of spending money after it comes. As time unveils, I noticed I could not get a hold of myself if I see money, I will be restless until I ensure every dime in me is spent. This ate deep into the very fabric of my finances. Whoosh, no progress seen;  instead,  a lot went wrong. As crazy as this sounds, I felt I was attacked. because one minute I am on funds, and the next minute I am broke. so sad. Anyone in my shoes will understand this transition phase. it is always faster.  This doubled my strategies on making more money because I felt the amou...

How to listen to your Body. Health warning signs you should'nt ignore

Image
You feel weak and tired all the time, your back aches, even most of all, you experience mood swings. It's becoming frequent. but you're telling yourself, I can manage. hmmm. We don't manage health. we address it immediately. be it mental health or otherwise, your health is non-negotiable.  what if your body is trying to warn you about a danger ahead? and you are busy ignoring. Research shows that most recorded death rates are as a result of untreated health issues be it small or big.  An average Nigerian will take his or her health seriously by paying attention to symptoms causing discomfort  I have seen many lose their lives due to negligence. ignoring and postponing those symptoms isn't a smart way to avoid spending or an avenue to show that you are a strong African ( bold and strong).  if it knocks you down, those empty lies in your head will vanish Here are common signs people ignore 1. Unexplained weight changes. you just noticed your...

Before you say ''yes '' to that job -know these rights. -- stop working blind, you have some rights as an employee

Image
For obvious reasons, I have decided to bring up this topic because a lot of employed Nigerians are really suffering all in the name of I need a job. Meanwhile, laws has been structured to protect you. of course, these laws wont speak for themselves. Your first step to liberty is knowing your rights and privileges at work. Before I point out these rights, i will want to establish something clear.  when you see "Job opening", it doesn't mean oil well money, nor does it mean ''Carry all your problems, salary will solve it for you''. NO!  Job openings/vacancies mean ;  company  is crying;  we need help, please, come and rescue us in the (xyz) department You, the employee, ok, I can offer to help.    Remove that mentality that the company is helping you out of poverty or managing you. except otherwise,  they are not doing you any favor. instead, you're the one doing them a favor. This is because you are the one offering your skills, knowl...

one unexpected bill can ruin you---unless you read this

Today in our society, many are trying to develop themselves by taking courses like an emotional intelligence course, and others. They neglect the most interesting one, which is "Financial intelligence." This skill is trending. might not be visible to you at the moment, but on a silent move. Hiring firms nowadays seek this skill set from applicants. Worse of all, they won't tell you.  Because it's their yardstick for measuring financial intelligence. I have seen many lose their jobs, some didn't even get the job after applying because the hiring firms saw what they couldn't see for themselves, financial intelligence. One thing this skill has taught me is ; planning is a security measure taken to comfortably spread your wings and fly. Financial literacy is not just a security measures  taken, but now a survival technique in this part of the country. Imagine holding your breath for 30mins,or even more? You'll choke. That is how not having financial liter...

Indeed, ideas rule the world.  This statement has been seen to stand the test of time as it brings an unforgettable experience once applied.  Fast forward to reality. It's no news that things aren't going well, and the economy isn't smiling with anyone. While others are still trying to assimilate this fact, others are smiling at their fat bank account(s). Over 65% of creative business idea owners in Nigeria are broke. The reason is that they don't have the capital to start the business. How frustrating can this be! If you're in this category, don't feel bad, because we still have people who don't even have a business idea. if you're also in this space, don't feel bad. This post is here to help you scale up. There are several businesses you can start without having a dime, yeah, you heard me. stop beating yourself. Roll your sleeves, let's work-talk. This post is my personal research, and it's a tested and proven idea. Not a diluted story. 1. ...

WHY IS MONEY SCARCE IN MY HANDS?

Image
A major challenge we face is the scarcity of money. Even when we "struggle" to get it, trust me, it isn't always enough. And then this circle continues till infinity. To add to this, some other persons who might not even work as hard as you do,  yet they make more than you do. It's annoying and exhausting😞. if this is your experience, then read through. Before I proceed with this, I'd like to establish some facts which we cannot change, but work with to achieve results. Money responds to needs Money will follow you if you follow its principles Money attracts its kind. Sometimes,  money isn't always enough   I will be linking these facts together as we expose some of the reasons money is scarce in your hands.    1. You're focused on earning and not multiplying.     This is a trick that many don't know they're doing.  It's good to invest time, ideas, and energy in getting money. very lovely. But hold on for a sec, how are you including the id...
